IV SWISS INNOVATION DAY – “5.0 Revolution – Technology at the service of people”

16/Oct/2024 - Breakfast, Café da Manhã, Comitê de Inovação, Innovation Commitee, Painel

On November 1st, 2024, SWISSCAM’s Innovation Committee organised the Swiss Innovation Day for the fourth consecutive year in the auditorium kindly provided by Nestlé in São Paulo. This year’s theme was ‘5.0 Revolution – Technology at the service of people’.

Moderated by Marcelo Veras, CEO of the Inova Ecosystem and Coordinator of the SWISSCAM Innovation Committee, the event opened with words from the Consul General of Switzerland in São Paulo, Pierre Hagmann, highlighting the innovation and sustainability actions of Swiss companies and the Swiss government in Brazil.

Ricardo Neves, CEO of NTT DATA in Brazil and author of the book ‘Virtual CEO – Leadership Lessons for the Post-Pandemic World’, gave a talk entitled ‘From Japan to Society 5.0’. The ‘Society 5.0’ concept was created in Japan in 2016 in an effort to direct technologies and advances towards improving people’s quality of life. To this end, Ricardo showed how this concept is being applied in practice in three pillars: quality of life, inclusion and sustainability.

Cássio Pantaleoni, Managing Director of Quality Digital’s AI Unit and winner of the prestigious Jabuti prize for his book ‘Humanamente Digital: Inteligência Artificial centred on the Human’ (Humanly Digital: Artificial Intelligence centred on the Human), followed up with his talk ‘AI – The advantages of the imitation game for business’. Cássio cited the Turing Test, by the famous British mathematician and scientist Alan Turing, pointing out that artificial intelligence doesn’t think, but rather imitates behaviour that we consider intelligent. This changes the perspective of how we deal with it.

In the second block, both speakers were part of a high-level panel with guests Silvan Roth, Founder and CEO of EmpreX, and Marcio Unrue Ramos, Director of Data, Digital and Innovation at Novartis Brazil.

The panellists explained the realities and challenges in their respective sectors, evolving into deep, philosophical questions about human needs, opening up the discussion to questions and considerations from the participants.

We would like to thank all those present for the enriching exchange and the Gold member for their sponsorship.
