Presidents’ Club 2024

05/Aug/2024 - Presidents’ Club

Flavio Silva, Roman Krznaric, Ana Cristina Moeri and Igor Tobias

On November 26, 2024, SWISSCAM organized the Presidents’ Club, an exclusive event for the CEOs of our Gold and Silver members, which for the third consecutive year, thanks to the partnership with MCI, took place in a private room within HSM+, the main management and innovation event in Latin America.

Flavio Silva, President of SWISSCAM, welcomed the guests and mentioned the important support of the Gold members. He also pointed out that all those present had won a gold pass, which gives access to all the HSM+ activities on the two days of the event (November 26 and 27). He also thanked the companies that had kindly offered special gifts to the guests.

Ana Moeri, Vice-President of SWISSCAM and CEO of Instituto Ekos, was the master of ceremonies at the event and kicked off the program, which consisted of a panel discussion with experienced leaders from Swiss companies on the theme: “Visions of the Future: Sustainability and Intergenerational Responsibility”, followed by an exclusive meeting and lunch with one of the event’s Keynote Speakers, Roman Krznaric, author of the bestseller “How to be a good ancestor”.

Frederico Turolla, Coordinator of SWISSCAM’s Finance and Economics Committee and Senior Partner at Pezco Economics, introduced the first block by reflecting on the Brazilian logistics matrix, which is based on heavy cargo, predominantly agricultural and mineral commodities. This movement currently involves high consumption of fossil fuels, generating a significant volume of emissions.

To discuss the conversion of this infrastructure, which requires high investment and, in turn, needs to be financed, Turolla moderated the discussion between panelists Urbano Araújo de Moraes, CEO of Mirabaud in Brazil and Bruno Bonella, General Manager of Matisa.

In the second block, Ana Moeri, who is also the Coordinator of SWISSCAM’s Sustainability Committee, held an interesting debate with panelists Maria Claudia Villaboim Pontes, CEO of Weleda in Brazil, Mauricio Adade, President of DSM-Firmenich and Jean-Paul Joarlette, Executive Director of Casale, on the current demands for innovation and new sustainable practices, product traceability, the challenges and opportunities in their respective sectors and intergenerational responsibility.

Afterwards, Ana Moeri called on stage Roman Krznaric, a philosopher, PHD in political science and author of several bestsellers, including “How to Be a Good Ancestor”, “Empathy” and “Carpe Diem”, as well as “History for Tomorrow”, which will soon arrive in Brazil. He is a researcher at the Center for Eudaimonia and Human Flourishing at Oxford University, founder of the Empathy Museum, the first of its kind in the world, and co-founder of The School of Life.

The talk reflects on the responsibility of company CEOs and how their legacy goes beyond the family circle, also involving the employees we work with and society as a whole. Faced with global challenges, our decisions can make business more sustainable and the workplace more pleasant, ethical and transparent.
