SWISSCAM develops Greenhouse Gas Inventory and supports ONF Brazil project

07/Oct/2024 - Environment, SWISSCAM -

SWISSCAM has been moving towards a more sustainable world and, through the Ekos Institute’s Climate Commitment Program platform, has developed the greenhouse gas emissions inventory for the Chamber’s activities for the year 2023.

Offsetting greenhouse gas emissions aims to balance carbon emissions in the atmosphere with the removal or equivalent offsetting of these emissions. To develop its inventory, the Chamber had the support of the Ekos Institute, which helped collect the information needed to calculate the company’s total emissions for the year 2023.

SWISSCAM offset 3 tons of CO2 by purchasing carbon credits. These credits work as a tool to reward projects that remove carbon from the atmosphere.

Through this initiative, SWISSCAM supported ONF Brasil’s Multi-Species Reforestation Project, which consists of reforesting a deforested area of 2,000 hectares in the Mato Grosso Amazon Rainforest. In addition, it promotes the study and promotion of biodiversity and the sustainable development of the geographical area of approximately 108,000 km2, in the northwest of Mato Grosso, where Fazenda São Nicolau, the headquarters of the “Peugeot/ONF Carbon Well” project, is located.
